Sourdough Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe
Just a helpful tip you are going to keep your dry and wet ingredients separate at first. And also you will want to brown your butter before you get started. This will all it time to cool so it doesn’t overheat your sourdough and kill it.
Also any changes I make to the recipe will have a -* with my change to the right of what Amanda uses.
WET Ingredients
1 and 1/2 sticks cooled melted butter– * I brown my butter meaning I let it bubble until it changes to a caramel brown color which changes its taste. You will need to let your butter cool after doing this. So you’ll want to do this first and set aside in its own bowl for wet ingredients.

2 Cups BROWN Sugar and 1/2 a cup WHITE Sugar– Add to cooled melted butter and whisk to combine
Add 2 eggs– Then stir
1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract– *I use Vanilla from the Dominican Republic that Jake brought back from his mission trip! It is super yummy and tastes different then ours and is great for baking!
1 cup sourdough starter
Stir all ingredients until combined
DRY Ingredients
4 cups of organic all purpose flour-*I use unbleached all purpose flour that I feed my starter with and it works perfectly
2 Teaspoons Baking Soda
4 teaspoons arrowroot or 4 teaspoons cornstarch-* I use 4 teaspoons cornstarch
2 teaspoons salt-* I use Pink Himalayan Salt
ADD Dry Ingredients
Start to add in half of your dry ingredients and continue to stir until it is mostly incorporated. Then add in the rest of your flour. Stir until you get a consistency that is similar to slightly sticky dough
Stir in your chocolate chips we use a combination of semi sweet mini chocolate chips and dark chocolate chunk here I suggest measuring with your heart! We have also used M&Ms so really the choice is all yours as to what you’d like to add here! Be creative and have fun!
Cover with Plastic wrap then place into the fridge for 30 minutes– This will help it become firm enough to scoop with a cookie scoop
Scoop and place on a baking sheet
Cook at 350 for 12 minutes pull them out and let rest on the cookie sheet to finish cooking for 5 minutes* if you make a bigger cookie like I sometimes do your cook time will be bumped up a couple minutes.
You can also freeze your dough if you don’t want to make it all at once. We sometimes do this so that the next time you want some you don’t have to make them you just have to pull them out and bake them in the air fryer or the oven!
